Being Canada's southernmost point, bordered by the Detroit River, Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie, the Windsor-Essex Region boasts the warmest climate in all of Ontario. The Region is actually located at the same latitude as northern California, and enjoys average temperature above 50°F (10°C) 223 days per year for seven months of short-sleeve weather. The Region enjoys four distinct seasons, allowing residents and visitors to enjoy the great outdoors with such activities as swimming, scuba diving, pond hockey & cross country skiing, hiking on trails, bird watching. The Great Lakes ensure the Region has mild winters with very little snow and long warm summers. In the fall, comfortable, sunny days and cool, bracing nights make this season a favourite time of year.
